Job Description: Summer 2026 HR Intern

Location: Mendota Heights, MN

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Summer 2026 HR Intern to support Mayflower Distributing’s HR team in day-to-day administrative functions, recruitment, employee engagement, and benefits-related initiatives. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced HR environment and offers a pathway to full-time employment upon graduation.

 

This internship is a great way to build foundational HR skills and gain real-world experience to prepare you for a full-time career in HR!

Duties:

  • Oversee daily operations of three facilities and ensure smooth functioning of various departments
  • Assist the HR Manager with administrative tasks, including completing Verifications of Employment (VOEs) and maintaining employee records.
  • Support recruitment efforts by reviewing resumes, helping with candidate screening, and coordinating interview schedules.
  • Participate in planning and executing employee appreciation events and engagement activities.
  • Gain exposure to employee benefits by sitting in on plan renewal and open enrollment meetings.
  • Assist in onboarding and orientation processes for new hires.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist with ad hoc HR projects as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee information.

 

As a Summer HR Intern, you’ll gain exposure to all facets of Human Resources, including:

  • Recruiting and talent acquisition processes.
  • Employee benefits administration and planning.
  • Employee engagement and appreciation initiatives.
  • HR administration, onboarding, and recordkeeping.
  • Insights into employee relations and HR best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a BS/BA in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited university, with a graduation date of Spring 2027.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Must be able to commit to a full 12-week internship, working 32-40 hours per week.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) and not require sponsorship for employment now or in the future.
  • Must have reliable transportation for daily commuting to and from the office.
